Controlling the Webplayer's Mail Notification LED

Thanks to a guy who goes by the name "hwhack" on the I-Appliance forums, I was able to compile several assembler files to control the mail notification LED light with a slight bit of modification to his code. These files can be used along with a mail notification program to light the LED when new mail is received and turn it off when your mail program is opened (by using a batch file to first run the file to turn the led off, then open your mail program). There are both DOS and Windows versions -- both can be used in the same manner, but the Windows version won't pop up a DOS command prompt each time it's run. Ideally, it would be nice to use Visual Basic or something similar that could easily interface with Outlook and control the LEDs depending upon the read/unread status of the messages themselves. If you improve or add more functionality to these files or their intended use, please let me know so I can update this page as better developments are made.

**Disclaimer: Use these files at your own risk. They should work just fine, but I can't be held responsible for anything that might go wrong. They worked fine for me in Windows 98. Please let me know if they do not work for you.

I'm still rather new to the assembly language (I've coded some on SPARCs and even less on x86), but it's something I'm sure I'll continue to learn in my spare time. I may actually do some Atari programming (6502 assembly) whenever my eprom programmer comes back from repair, so watch out! =) Anyway, I hope these files are of some use to fellow Webplayer owners and that I'll be able to add more functionality to them in the future! Enjoy!
