Do You Pidgin?
Posted by: AceBHound on Jun 30th, 2007 2:10 PM
Pidgin, formerly known as GAIM, is a free IM client that supports many chat application protocols including AIM, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC, MSN, QQ, SILC, SIMPLE, Sametime, XMPP, Yahoo! and Zephyr.

In the past I have used GAIM on Linux and occasionally had it installed on my Windows desktops, but usually migrated back to AIM on Windows since it was prettier. I've been using AIM 6.0 even, up until a few months ago, even though it took a while to get used to how bloated it seemed. Recently AIM 6.0 had been bugging me to install the latest version, mentioning it would also install the Plaxo Content Management Tool and Viewpoint Media Player with no option to de-select these additional applications from being installed. That was the last straw for me -- thanks but no thanks to Adware.
