Microsoft SPOT technology makes watches smarter

This is pretty cool stuff. Microsoft has this Smart Personal Object Technology (SPOT) that uses FM radio subcarriers to feed data, such as news, weather, instant messaging & more to devices. Wristwatches are soon available with this technology, tho likely with a hefty price tag or monthly subscription fee.

SPOT wristwatches offer advanced features such as automatic time adjustment based on location, customizable watch faces, and access to continually updated content such as news, traffic alerts, weather reports, stock quotes, and sports scores, instant messaging, etc. -- plus, of course, all the capabilities expected of a modern wristwatch such as chronometer, calendar, alarm, and timer functions.
