Google library endeavor could make book access easier

This is pretty cool -- Google is going to be scanning full texts of books from 5 major libraries to test how well the process works. Not that many students actually go to the library if they can easily find the information online, but some teachers still require you to cite actual books & there are times you just can't find what you need online. You wonder what Google doesn't have their hands in these days =)

The New York library is allowing Google to include a small portion of its books no longer covered by copyright while Harvard is confining its participation to 40,000 volumes so it can gauge how well the process works. Oxford wants Google to scan all its books originally published before 1901.
